In 2019, I started my hijab journey.
And while it was a beautiful and deeply personal change in my life, it came with a struggle I hadn't quite expected — finding clothes that felt like me.
I wanted to dress modestly, but I didn't want to give up my sense of style.
I wanted clothes that were fashionable, comfortable, effortless and expressive. Clothes that felt modern, looked beautiful and still gave me the coverage I wanted.
But finding that in India wasn't easy.
There were plenty of everyday basics and traditional abayas, but very few pieces that felt fashion-forward, comfortable and personal. More often than not, I found myself layering multiple pieces just to get the coverage I wanted.
And honestly, I was tired of it.
I kept thinking:
“Why can't I just wear one beautiful piece and be done?”
That question became the beginning of Rekosia.
